€170.000 in damages caused by ‘Dutch’ flower trader
Once again, Dutch flower exporters have been confronted with extensive non-payment. AgroCheck is currently investigating a case involving a Dutch company that had been active in the floriculture sector for several years, leaving multiple flower exporters with large outstanding invoices. The damage currently known amounts to approximately €170,000, but we do not rule out the possibility that more suppliers have been affected.
Striking signals
During our investigation, several striking circumstances emerged:
- The company is registered as a Dutch Limited Company (B.V.), but possesses only a business registration and has no operational business address in the Netherlands.
- The purchased flowers were exported to Serbia.
- The owners are of Serbian origin and have been known to AgroCheck for years. They have been involved in at least 10 previous companies in both the Netherlands and Serbia, leaving suppliers with significant outstanding debts. In short, these are old acquaintances.
- Furthermore, our investigation reveals that a portion of the trade was resold via the Dutch company to a Serbian company owned by another notorious Serbian defaulter. The owner of this company has caused at least €2.5 million in damages to suppliers in the Netherlands, Colombia, and Ecuador over the past 15 years.
The available information indicates that these trade flows are no coincidence. AgroCheck is further investigating the connections between the companies and individuals involved.
Have you possibly done business with them as well?
We suspect that more companies have traded with this enterprise and may not yet be known to us. Do you suspect that you have also done business with this company? If so, please contact AgroCheck. We may have information that can help you limit your losses.
Together, we can prevent fraudulent trading practices from claiming victims within the floriculture sector again. Companies that are not yet members of AgroCheck can become members for just €450 per year. More than 250 companies have already joined.
